The CAB CPT is a collection of computer-based assessment tools developed to objectively assess the primary factor of attention/concentration related to sustaining attention. The CAB CPT tests are advanced 32-bit programs designed to be administered with an IBM/Intel compatible computer running Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, or higher. A VGA display monitor is needed to run the CAB CPT. The CAB CPT is a collection of 6 different tests of sustained attention designed to assess the primary factor of attention related to sustained attention. These measures are divided into two groups (Monitoring Tasks and Vigilance Tasks). Monitoring Tasks are defined as a group of CPTs where the target is a commonly occurring event (for the CAB CPT Monitoring Tasks the targets occur 1 out of every 3 stimuli on average). The Vigilance Tasks are defined as a group of CPTs where the targets are more rare events (for the CAB CPT Vigilance Tasks the targets occur 1 out of every 15 stimuli on average). The CAB CPT Monitoring Tasks include three versions. There is a Visual Monitoring CPT (VMCPT), an Auditory Monitoring CPT (AMCPT), and a Shift Monitoring CPT (SMCPT). The CAB CPT Vigilance CPT Tasks also include three versions. There is a Visual Vigilance CPT (VVCPT), and Auditory Vigilance CPT (AVCPT), and a Shift Vigilance CPT (SVCPT).

The various measures of The CAB CPT are simple to administer in a standardized manner. Each test has multi-media instructions to allow for consistent administration from one setting to the next. These tutorials provide auditory and visual instructions for the task required from each test. These tutorials allow for subject trials of the test requirements to confirm that the subject understands the test. Also, each test allows the instructor to exit and restart a test once initiated, exit and save partial data, or completely exit a test. While there are 6 different tests in the CAB CPT, the program allows for a selected test or tests to be administered. Once the selected test is completed the results are summarized in numerous ways, saved for later analysis, and/or printed.
